The aim of the book is to explain the metaphysics of memory, its intentionality, its phenomenology and its epistemology. Fernández argues that memories represent their own causal origins, and have a distinctive functional role. On those grounds, he then accounts for the feelings associated with our memories and for the special knowledge they afford.
