Lee finds disturbing parallels between gnosticism and the current state of belief and practice in North American Protestantism. He attacks both conservatives and liberals as he explores the current state of religion and its impact on the values of society. He concludes with a call for a return to orthodoxy and a series of prescriptions for reform.
