This volume collects important essays by distinguished philosopher Michael Slote. The papers are mainly on ethical topics and include discussions of free will, of utilitarianism, of rational choice, and of the relevance of empathy to ethics. Topics outside ethics include: counterfactuals, the nature of assertion, and the rationality of aesthetic value judgments.
