Pen of Fire tells the story of Ellen G. White, one of the Smithsonian's "100 Most Significant Americans of All Time," and how she founded and led an American-born Christian church through slavery, the Civil War, and Jim Crow. In the worst periods of American race relations, she tried to rid her predominately white church of racism and bring African Americans into their religious community.
