This interpretation of literary collaboration, first published in 1989, focuses on homosexual desire: men write together in order either to express or to evade homosexual feelings. The texts it explores – psychoanalysis, sexology, fiction, poetry – open up a deeper understanding of connections today between the erotic and the literary.
