The first scholarly edition of Samuel Richardson's correspondence with three young women: Sarah Wescomb, Frances Grainger and Laetitia Pilkington. This volume, including a comprehensive introduction and full annotation, offers new insights into eighteenth-century social and literary history, especially the degree of autonomy allowed to women within family and society.
